What is EMDR?

EMDR is a psychotherapy method that helps people cope and/or heal from crisis, traumatic, and distressing experiences like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, and various other mental health diagnoses. EMDR is recognized as a treatment by the American Psychiatric Association, the United States Office of Veterans Affairs, the World Health Organization, and many other organizations.

For experiences or situations that are too upsetting or traumatizing to verbalize in detail, EMDR is helpful in that verbalizing the details of those experiences is largely unnecessary as we focus more on uncovering the negative core beliefs that stem from the unhealthy and damaging incidents.

Serenity Hope Counseling, PLLC has begun offering EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy starting in 2019.

For more information or if you are interested in incorporating EMDR therapy as part of your mental health treatment, please contact Laura Inglis, LICSW (WA), LCSW (ID).
